Originally from Ohio, John now resides in New York and has a diverse academic background and art education. His travels have led him from a scholarship in 1939 at Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts School, Columbus, Ohio to a scholarship to Skowhegan School in Maine in 1949. From there John traveled to Italy, where he did private tutelage in tempera painting for two years in Sienna, Italy. He lectured intensely at the University of Rome where he made a systematic study of the history of Italy. John also attended the Instituto di Ristauro and Academia Delle Belle Arte for a year.
Numerous exhibitions for the artist have included the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts, Ohio; Ohio State University; National Academy of design, New York; Pennsylvania Academy, Philadelphia; and the National Arts Club, New York City.
Special honors during his career include The American Watercolor Society, National Academy of Design, The Metropolitan Young Artists’ Show, National Arts Club in New York City.
