The Garden Gallery » Sara Baker

Sara began mastering the art of throwing clay on a spinning potter’s wheel in high school, and it was not long before she was smitten by the processes of throwing, glazing and firing pots. This fascination has continued over the years and Sara’s technical expertise has continued to grow as her situation has changed, and her ideas about the pots she makes has developed. This show highlights what happens when an excellent potter, malleable clay and a spinning wheel comes together.

After finishing college, Sara attended the Worcester Center for Crafts as a professional craft studies student, and was a resident artist before setting up her studio in Unityville, Pennsylvania in 1992.

She has been featured in Ceramics Monthly, which featured Sara’s unique and individual style. Each year Sara participates in the American Craft Marketing Show; National Crafts, Ltd.’s; the Craftsmen’s Guild in Pittsburgh; DCAS Crafts at Rhinebeck, New York; the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival; the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, and the ACC show in Baltimore, Maryland.

Sara’s home and studio are in a charming old farmhouse in Unityville, Pennsylvania, with her husband Oren Heblock, and their two children.
